The adjacent possible is a kind of shadow future, hovering on the edges of the present state of things, a map of all the ways in which the present can reinvent itself.
The dimensional figure studies remind me of Egyptian Shabti (or Ushabti) figures, which were created to take care of the labor-intensive chores in the afterlife that we disliked doing in life, including manual labor and servitude. They are also referred to as "answerers" as they are always happily awaiting questions and commands.
